Developers money problems | | Video Game ... - Fully Loaded Gaming

We all know the economy sucks right now, and this doesn?t exclude video game developers. THQ, one of the most?reputable?companies in the video game industry, has recorded a?$239.9 million loss in their latest financial report. This?substantial?loss almost doubles their loss last fiscal year. THQ and Obsidian Entertainment has currently been in development of a RPG South Park game, which was scheduled to be released this coming Fall. This release date has now been pushed back to the first quarter of 2013, but THQ is not linking this to their money issues.

38 Studios, who brought you Kingdoms of Amalur, is also going through some financial problems. An insider from Rhode Island NBC announced that the state?s governing body has been working with 38 Studios in regards to the future of the company.?Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee spoke out about the state?s?conglomeration with 38 Studios by stating, ?We?re always working to keep Rhode Island companies solvent, and that?s what we?re doing with 38 Studios?. Governor Chafee would not give any details about what is being discussed with the studio but added,??We?re working with 38 Studios on different issues. That?s all I can report right now.???Back in 2010, 38 Studios had received 75 million dollars worth of loans from Rhode Island?s Economic Development Corporation?to uproot their company from?Massachusetts, and move it to R.I.

It looks as if these companies have been taking major hits, but they are looking to implement plans to start cutting into their issues. For the sake of gamers everywhere, let?s hope they get all their ducks in a row.

Now to my gaming experience. I have been playing video games since Atari. My favorite system is Sega Genesis. Toe Jam and Earl is one of my favorite games on Sega, as well as NHL '94(I play NHL almost every night). On a non-video game note, I love the Warhammer 40K universe. I read the novels and play the various video game titles from this universe. I am a huge fan of movies from all genres. I love reggae and beaching it up in the summer!
