This is pretty good brief rundown of how to utilize some of the ability cards in the game. They go through the character cards such as:

Doctor Octopus: Increases attack power + Cancel one special move into another sacrificing the HC gauge. Really great chain combos.

Thanos ? gain ability to parry + temporary increase in attack power after performing a parry. Great tactic to get no block damage as well as get a set up in there.

Ultron ? Gain super armor while in the air + increase the flight time. Really great for defensive as well as providing an air combo offensive.

Hayato ? all characters will be able to do a 6 chain combo and give more stun value to opponent after performing a crossover counter. Great for setting up long string combos as well as providing an effective offense to really demolish your opponent.

Iceman ? become temporarily invincible to shot attacks after successfully performing the advanced guarding tactic. Great tactic for those who are prone to more projectile type of playing.

Ryu + Howard The Duck (WTF?_? LOLOLOL) ? Sends the opponent flying after X-Factor activation + increases the duration of power-up Hyper Combos. After you get hit with a combo of 30 hits, your X-Factor activates and your HC gauge refills automatically. This is a crazy tactic for coming back on those super clutch matches!!

As you can see this is just a few of the cool tactics you can implement to help you take control of the match, or build a strong defense to comeback. Ultimate Marvel vs capcom 3 is trying to bring back more strategy to help raise the game on another level. I definitely can?t fault them for that!
